The Republic of Kosovo claims ownership of property located abroad.
SourcePRISTINA (PRISHTINA), Kosovo – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo aims at regaining Kosovo owned property throughout the republics of the former Yugoslavia.
To achieve progress on this issue the Ministry has formed a joined commission with the Kosovo Privatization Agency (KPA).
Reportedly 172 properties are in focus, which belonged to Kosovar "socially owned enterprises". The properties consist of factories, shops and land. Most of these properties are located in Serbia, which still doesn’t recognize the Republic of Kosovo.
As to its constructive cooperation with Kosovo in the past, Kosovo’s neighbor Montenegro will be the first of the states to be approached with an according request.
For now 42 Kosovo owned properties were identified on Montenegrin territory. Further properties are located in Bosnia (15), Croatia (6), Macedonia (4), and Slovenia (1).
According to ministry spokesman Artan Behrami after Montenegro further countries in the region will be individually approached, "in order to determine ways of restitution". (see koha, telegrafi) - KON
